In her online discussion on hope, Pastor and Bible teacher Joyce Meyer once said, "I like to say that hope is the confident expectation that something good is going to happen." And I agree with that 100%. Hope is not wishing for what we want to happen, but waiting on what we know will happen. You are not just confident of it; you have a working knowledge of it coming. 2 + 2 equals 4. It is undeniable regardless of how we view it. What you are hoping for is just as solid.
In the summer of 2018 while I was a teacher, we were invited to a teachers' assembly a few weeks before school began to pick up gifts, important paperwork, and get announcements. One of those announcements were to announce the winners of a grant for which I had applied a few months back. When they said that they were about to announce the grant recipients, I leaned over to a colleague and said, "I won this grant; they are going to call my name." She said, "Okay, I see you! Name it and claim it!" I smiled, nodded. at her, and said, "Seriously, I won this grant." I leaned back smiling and continued listening to the speaker. My name was the third name to be called. My colleague's jaw dropped as she turned, looked at me, and said, "You are prophetic!" She turned to the other colleagues and asked,"Did you all see what just happened!? This man is prophetic!" Honestly, what I had was hope - hope in a sense of knowing that I won. It was a fact. A law. An inconceivable, notion. As I sat there, I wasn't desiring to win; I was sitting there knowing that I had won, and we were just waiting to hear it out loud. Hebrews 11:1 tells us that "faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see." At the assembly, I was convinced; I was only there for the confirmation.
When God declares something, He Is declaring what has already been prepared and done on your behalf. In your biggest faith moments, try replacing the word hoping with waiting. Pair this mentality with a prayer for God to keep your mind in perfect peace while you wait on His Promise. The finish is always worth the fight.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.
1. In what areas of your life do you need more hope?
2. What thoughts cause you to lose hope?
3. What can you change in your thinking about these areas to help you regain and keep hope?
Father God, set the correct level of hope in my heart and the correct perception of hope in my mind that allows me to wait on what You have promised.
It is Your Name and in Jesus' Name I pray.
Amen.
